5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Has anyone with a Generation6 Camry already changed their cabin air filter? I went to Toyota today and bought a "Genuine Toyota" air filter and changed out the old one.
For some reason, the original filter than came in the car appears to be more sturdy and "heavy duty" than the one I just bought.
The new one was flimspy an didn't have a tight fit like the old one. It was kind of difficult getting it to sqeeze in there without having the edges and side bent.
Or maybe I just got a bad one? Anyone with the same problem?

You changed yours already? I am waiting until Friday when the air will suppose to get back to normal quality due to the fires then I will change my cabin air filter.
I will let you know after I changed it out.

How much did the OEM one cost? I saw a Purolator cabin filter for my 05 I4 for around $20 at Pepboys.
I got it with a coupon from Toyota dealership for $21.20 after tax. Usually its like $26.00 at regular price.
Do you guys think its possible to wash the old cabin filter and re-use it? Paying $21-26 for something that probably cost 10 cents to make is a rip off I think.
Its not a performance issue, so I don't see why you couldn't wash it or at least blow compressed air backwards. I don't know of any problem with removing the filter completely, seeing as how must cars don't have cabin air filters anyways.
