5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I called 1sttoyotaparts.com and the rep said he doesn't carry TRD parts anymore since it takes to long to get and way too difficult. Is this true? I hope toyotapartsdirect.com doesn't have the same problem.
So I just talked to a toyota service department and they want $600 (canadian) bucks for installation of the TRD lowering springs, is this standard or completely ridiculous? has anyone here done the installation themselves? any feedback on the quality of the ride would also be appriciated
$600 Canadian dollars just for installing springs does sound ridiculous. I think Toyota dealerships just like to overcharge all of their labor fees, especially on performance parts installation. When I asked how much does it cost to install my TRD muffler, they told me it was $100 US Dollars!!! All they had to do was remove 2 bolts and 2 rubber hangers and put the TRD muffler on. I also called one time to ask how much for installing a TRD supercharger, they told me $2000 USD just for installation!!! Talk about crazy. But then I called a different dealership in my area and they said it was only $600 USD to install superchargers. Weird!
Anyways, if you have the time and mechanical knowledge then you might want to try installing the springs yourself or go to some small repair shop so the labor cost will be much cheaper. However, the TRD springs warranty won't be as effective as if Toyota installed them. I'm not sure about the ride quality of the springs, but since they are TRD they shouldn't be too harsh.
