What cold knock issue?? 20k on my V6 and no issues.
Nope the 08 Avalon's have the same trans as the Camry.
I was unaware they switched to the 6-speed for 08. 07's are the 5-speed though.

Thats right, the only thing that is missing is an all wheel drive version.
I know some dont like it, but i think that would make the camry perfect for me because in nyc we have those strange winters where its like blizzard for a day or two.
I know this would probably make luxury.

My se V6 has a cold knock which disappears when the engine warms up. Most noticeable when engine under load, ie in gear and accelerating. I would sure like to get it fixed but dealer says Toyota working on it? Is that the problem you have?

I got video of my Camry and my TL, both at sub 40 degree start up and similarly shot in the same spot in the same garage with the same camera...
Sorry but the Camry sounds like a clapped-out-dodge pickup truck on startup!!!
Not to worry though, EVERY Toyota engine I've owned (4cyl ESPECIALLY), V6 and even the venerable 4.7 V8 all sounded as if there was a metal stamping factory under the hood... They all ran without a hitch and had and kept good power for many miles... You just have to ignore the knocking and tapping and other noises while the engine is running in close proximity to a wall. Like stuck in traffic on the left lane or at the McDonald's drive-through, either turn up the music or roll up the window.
