5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I was leaving my apartment, and when i was braking to get out. I heard a nasty break squeak. Is this normal at 10,000 miles?
The thing is, it went away after i got onto the main street at the light. I only heard the squeak 2 times after i left the apartment, then it was fine again.
Is this something i should let the dealership look at or should i just replace the brake pads.
was the squeak coming from the front or back? Take off a wheel and inspect your brake pads to see if they're worn down. Its not that unusual for pads to wear out at 10k especially if they're cheap ones. If you have to replace them buy the good stuff, they last twice as long.
i had the same experience when my camry se v6 is still around 5000 miles. it still does it once in a while but it goes away. i checked my pads when i was rotating the tires but they were fine. my opinion is that it's the accumulation of brake dust because when my car is clean i never notice it.
If you just had a frost cuz of winter rolling in, then you could have had a skim of moisture or some such gunk on your rotors. I get that sometimes when my car is parked outside at night. It just builds up some stuff on the rotors then it rubs off and its good to go.
my reach 13k miles when it start shaking the steering wheel on braking at high speed. Turned out the rotor were warped. From research, it seems a few people had to change their rotor around 13k - 16k miles.
Took it into the dealer and had it replaced with new pad, under warranty.
first thing in the morning, its the condensation on disc, not to worry, the dealer will service them but it will come back, like i said its just condensation on the disc
it's normal.. the pads rust and make the squeak noise.. once you stop once or twice, the squeaks go away
It's actually the rotors that rust from the condensation, not the pads. If you have ever washed a car with alloy wheels (allowing visual access to the rotors) while it is still a bit warm, you can actually see the rust form on the rotors, as you are washing the car.
If the problem persists, go to your dealership and ask them to apply the TSB's (give them name of TSB)
It seem to only happen once. Drove my car again tonight, and i did not hear anything. I was looking at the rear brake squeak tsb, and my car did squeak at low speed with a light pressure to the brakes.
If i do bring it to the dealership, I am afraid that when they take the car for a test drive, they will not hear the squeak.
