this yellow 9005 nokya thread is different i promise!

so i bought some noky 9005 yellows right. (really like them, when they work)modified them to fit my fog light 9006 housings. and some weird shit is happening. first i put them in and they both worked. then after (of course) i bolted the splash guard back on i noticed the left one wasnt on. so today i took the splash gurad off and did nothing but un plug it then plug it back in and it worked. then didnt work. then worked and the right one didnt work! wtf is going on?? i thought well maybe its the housing because they are 9005 lights in a 9006. so i put them in my high beams which are 9005 and the same thing. worked some and then didnt. its completely random. its got to be a connection problem i thought but then why would it do it in the high beam housing??? anybody have any suggestions for me?

yea, maybe. but i dont get how it would work sometimes then not other times. is there any way the fact that im running essentially 3 sets of 9005s (1 set on high beams, 1 set on low beams, 1 set on fogs) is too much voltage or something?

make sure it is fitting snugly in the harness. if you dont cut enough of the tabs inside the bulb plug, it will be loose and a bump will dislodge it. this happened to me a few times before figuring it out. im 99% sure this is the problem u are having

it might be cuz in my car i have hids on both the headlights and fog and it use to do the samething you are talkin bout but i just started turning on the headlights only and then the fogs and it worked. i also use to flick them on n off till they turn on. but that was only in like the first month now they work wit no problems.

make sure you cut the tabs as flush to the connector as possible...i had to try a few times to get the fit i did, but in the end it worked perfect

hmmm. maybe this is it.but im not so sure. cause i even put a wrench on it and squeexed to make sure its really in there. could be though. i cut the tabs with a fingernail clipper and didnt do such a great job. whats a good tool to use on that? its hard to get anything small enough to fit in there...

dremel will work. if you dont have a dremel, i just used a box cutter. the plastic is pretty soft and breaks and shaves off easily..

ok people, im not sure if it was through frustration or just hope that the reason was not a good connection. but i went to WORK on these lights! lol. i basically took all the plastic lip on the bottom off! there was NO DOUBT there was a good connection and these bulbs are still doing this. now im probably gonna have to eat the cost of these and buy some more without being able to exchange them as i was going to. but im mainly curious as to WHY they are doing this?? ive never heard of a bulb doing anything like this. it seems like its some sort of voltage issue because when one is plugged in it works. but when i plug the other one in neither work. they can be switched around put in different housings, whatever. and they work sometimes and then dont all the sudden. any ideas at all? the bulbs were very cheap. i got them off ebay for 20 shipped. think they are some sort of bootleg nokyas or something? im at a lost. i give up. god doesnt want me to have cool yellow fog lights! the thing is now im nervous about getting some more 9005s instead of 9006s cause i dont want to go through this again and i know the 9005s look much brighter. i can say this, when the bulbs WERE working the light they put off was very good. it was a good deep yellow..... any ideas??

side note: for my low beams im using silverstars(not ultra) 9005 instead of 9006 and man they look good. i think they might be better than 9006 ultras....

The Silverstars at ~4000K were still too yellowish for me when side by side against my 4350K MTEC's.
