5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Just got a Toyota Certified 2005 V6 XLE and noticed two annoying things. First during acceleration I feel a noticable vibration coming thru the gas pedal, specifically when the tachometer is between 1800-2200 RPM. Also I noticed that if I take my foot off the brake pedal quickly it snaps back with a thud that can be heard even from the back seat. It seems like I can jiggle the brake pedal a bit, too. I don't remember other Toyota brake pedals doing this. I took it to my local Toyota dealer last week and they said everything was within spec and the vibration was caused by the road/tires. I don't buy this at all! Any ideas?
Just got a Toyota Certified 2005 V6 XLE and noticed two annoying things. First during acceleration I feel a noticable vibration coming thru the gas pedal, often around 15-20, 25-30, 35-40 miles per hour. If I park the car and rev the engine I barely feel it if at all. Are these speeds when the car is shifting? Also I noticed that if I take my foot of the brake pedal quickly it snaps back with a thud that can be heard from the back seat. The brake pedal concern is completely normal. I can't tell you how many times I've heard that concern.
Your gas pedal vibration sounds very odd.
You're probably just over analyzing your car. Many people do that.
I took the car in for service a second time for the vibration problem and my local servicer told me they called a Toyota tech at the factory and that the vibration was inherent in some models of this year but there is no fix for it. Hard to believe.

I had the same problem with my I4 LE. I took two trips to the dealer, and they replace the power booster, thump is gone. I didn't notice any vibration at all.
On a side note, the brake pedal thud was only objectionable when I drove or rode in the car. It didn't bother me at any other time!

The chin bone is connected to the leg bone leg bone, you get the drift. The throttle assy is connected to your engine if the mounts are a little worn and the engine has a slight miss you might feel it. This is a common thing even in my Benz I felt things through the shifter and gas pedal. I use to drive Porsche 911 turbo and you felt allot of things. The only vehicle I ever drove that I did not feel some road viberation was not my car I could never afford a Rolls but it was quiet and had very little viberation.
But really if it is more than a slight viberation have some one check the engine with you sitting in the car foot on the brake and put the car in gear and holding the break give it the gas hard and see how much the motor moves. If it really twistys allot you may have a bad motor mount. Also look where the pedal assy goes through the firewall and see that the rubber boot is in place and all the linksge has its bushings in place all the way to the injection. Please don't stand in front of the car when testing the mounts.

Actually, there isn't a mechanical link between the throttle and the accelerator pedal. There is not longer a cable that connects them. A sensor on the accelerator pedal tells the ECU what you are doing, then the ECU tells the throttle body how to respond.

Correct.
"Could the ECU have a loud clock and he is feeling it???.....JK
