Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
New SE 07 owner for about a month and half now and found this forum just the other day ... reminds me of when I bought my first Glock and found Glocktalk to anwer all my noob questions.
I did do a search first but did not find my spin on this topic (saw that not using search was frowned on heavily) so forgive me if I hit up a question that has been answered to no end previously.
I am getting my first mod, window tint, later this month and I really don't have a clue as to what percent I should be puting on the car so that I don't become a cop magnet. I was thinking of being a puss and going with 50 but see that others use 35 percent, which is what I prefer. For those of you side window tint veterans, what has been your experience with state and local cops? Is the stock tint that I have on the back window of my 03Tundra 35%, anyone know?
I have many more noob mod questions to come but thought I would start here as my introduction to this kickass forum.
The Lower you go the darker the tints, the higher you go the lighter the tints are, The legal limit is 35 ( thats in Mass) different states have different limits, i have 25% on my door windows and my back is at 20%, for the times i gotten pulled over, never ticketed or warned, as long as the cops can still see you through the windows they wont care to much.
50% means 50% of light is let through
40% means 40% of light is let through
20% means 20% of light is let through
Limos are 5%.
Most cars get 35% front/20% rear.
Others dislike mismatching tints so they either get 35% all or 20% all around.
Some tint places offer in between, ie. 25% or 15%.
I went with 35%/20%, I'm in Chicago and haven't been cited a ticket for the past 6 months of owning my SE. When I do get pulled over, I lower all my windows, or at least the front ones asap. If I were to do it again, I'd get 30%/15%.
I have some pictures of my tint in my CarDomain link below.

hm, one our 04 we have 35 in the front and 20 rear and its pretty dumb looking. 35 all around will be nice, its not that dark. Our gen6 has 20% all around and its nice and dark but light enough to see out of at night.
^ that's why i want to get 20% on the front, to make it darker...35% is too light when i have 5% on the rear.

Don't get 20% man. Not because of the police, but because you can't see shit at night when it's raining in particular.
I have a 30% tint all around. It also happens to be at the legal limit for my province in Canada (Ontario). But I chose 30% over 20% because I actually wanted to be able to see at night.
There are a lot of people who do the rear at 20% while the front at 30 or 35%, but that looks awkward and "unfinished".

PA's law is 35% tint is the lowest you can go. You can only tint the rear passenger windows and the big rear window. That law is the same for all of the tri state area however i've seen many people with 5% and limo tints going around and the cops dont do anything.

As for the can't see at night or in the rain...i've never had a problem, so i think it's all personal preference.
