Question 98 Security System Problem-Urgent Help Needed

I have a few factory installed (Securikey) security system related issues I need help with.
My major issue I need help on is I replaced the car’s battery last night and the security system immediately armed and activated. Since the remote key does not work I had no way to disarm the system. Once the horn/lights stopped blasting, I tried to start the car but the security system has it disabled. How can I get around this problem.

A little back ground info:
About two years ago I started having problems with the remote unlocking the doors. The range got shorter till finally it quit working all together. I have replaced the battery in the key and the led lights normally. For about a year now I have just been using the mechanical key to unlock the doors. (how primative is that !!!! LOL)
Another issue I have is a few years ago I had resorted to leaving the system in valet mode as the shock sensor was so sensitive, it would always get activated anytime the system was armed. Basically, I was just using the key fob as a remote lock/unlock.

So now I have a new car battery and the car will not start. Any help on these issues would be greatly appreciated.

Craig

try finding the security module in the engine bay and see if u can disconnect it somehow. if that does not work i would really just look into getting a new remote..

Try this. With the key in the ignition, push in and hold the little red lighted button to the left of the steering wheel. Turn the key and start the car while holding in the button. This puts the alarm in valet mode.

Check the alarm manual. There will be directions in there about how to disable the lockout. If you no longer have the manual, maybe someone in the gen 4 forum can look at theirs for you. In the meanwhile, you can try pushing in the alarm mode button while starting the car. I know my aftermarket alarms all worked that way.

securikey

The vast range of problems noted with the securikey+ system should send a message to the desk jockeys who bought the dern things for all Toyotas in the Gulf Coast Region.

My son, a mechanical engineering student looked it over, heard your complaints and said "what problem did this troublesome key with a car alarm remote solve?" Isn't carrying the transmitter on the key itself sort of like stenciling the combination to a safe on the front of the door for convenience?

Mine is nothing but trouble. In my next Toyota I will specify that the thing must be pulled out at their cost before I take delivery.
