5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Thanks to TRD VVTi, I got around to seafoaming my car. It was pretty straight forward, I removed the line that leads to the VSV from the intake manifold right near the TB, so it cleans out the intake as well.
And heres a video I made:
Don't make the same mistake I did though, which was seafoaming it twice in a row. I used half the can the first time and about 1/3 the can the second time. When I started accelerating for the second time the check engine light came on and the car was extremely sluggish, and the engine was downshifting and revving up abnormally high. Anyways, a simple reset of the ECU (disconnecting the battery), fixed everything. Now everything is great, and my car runs much better now.
It smoked more the first time, the video of me driving up the hill was from the second time, I stopped accelerating hard when the CEL came on and the car started acting weird, but the first time was amazing, lol
but why did you seafoam a brand new car? From most of the posts I've read on the net, seafoam is used on high mileage cars. Is it safe to use seafoam with such low mileage?

That's what I wanted to know. Why seafoam a car under 50k miles? I didn't even seafoam mine yet and I'm creeping up close to my 50k miles mark. Heck, I didn't even seafoam my dad's Gen 5 Camry yet and he already put 110k miles in four years.
oh wow that was damn effective.....i cant wait to seafoam my baby saturday! cleaning the TB too and my TRD filter as well
prob flush the radiator and clean the battery terminals as well....ah winterizing
nice vid tho! looks real simple and effective
that must have sucked for the guy that came behind you. i know when i seafoamed my car, i tried to stay away from any main streets or other cars because of all the smoke.. thats why i just revved in my driveway for a little to get most of it out.. but like TRD had said, its better to put the car under load.
