Random Question (Gas, Brakes)

Noob here.... '07 Camry 2.4L

Does anyone experience poorer gas efficiency in the winter months?

Also, it seems as if my car's brakes feels funny (at the pedal) when I brake. Not in a grinding way, but definitely not a clean way. Anyone else experience this?

Yes everyone, because of the lower temperature and winter fuel blend.

Lower temperatures = Colder air going into your engine

Colder air going into your engine = More power

More power = Combustion cycle requiring more fuel to process

More fuel to process = Lower gas efficiency

But yeah, winter blend in fuel affects too, they add a sort of anti-freeze, similar to IsoHeet to gas to prevent it from freezing.

I hear that the dust and residual effects of the road can have an effect on the brake feeling funny. Is this true? Can I run some water through the brakes to get the good feel back?
