5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I know this topic has been covered before, but I'm wondering for those people who had this problem after installing new tires and rims, what did you have to do to correct the vibration? I've been to the shop 2 times now, and so far they've re-balanced it and changed the plastic hub centric rings with metal ones.
Forgot to say that it didn't fix the problem. Still have vibration at 65+ mph.

The desription of the problem sounds like excessive runout of the wheels, tires, or out of balance. The only way to know it to actually check it.
how do you know if it is out of balance or not? Is this something you have to bring to the store for them to check it out?
Yes. The hard part is finding a shop with a technician that really knows what he's doing. It's even harder if they aren't the ones that installed the wheels and tires, as there isn't really any money in figuring out someone else's tire/wheel issue.
I had the vibration at the same exact speeds. Was at the shop for like 4 days straight and they tried nearly everything. But it turned out it was some bad tires. They installed a new set of tires and the vibration was gone.
Try to find a shop that has the Hunter Road Force balancing machine. Then ask for the tech who is trained on that machine. Most likely you will have the tires balanced properly. For more info on the Road Force go to TireRack.com
Thanks for the reply guys. The techs over at America's Tire Co. were really helpful since that's where I bought the set. They recommended me to do a road force balancing, but I'd have to go to another America's tire store, which is about half-hour drive. My other option is to get a different set of tires. I might just go with the latter and put on other tires. I currently have Kumho Ecsta SPT 225/45/18s, which got so-so reviews.

I have 225/45/R18 with bridgestone RE960AS tires and Konig Further wheels.
At first I have bad vibrations (Discount tires) and they finally did the road force balance after 3 trips of unresolved vibrations issue.
It cured the vibartions but I still has vibrations at 85+ mph.
They decided to put some hub rings and that really cured the vibrations issue.

How long did the road force balance take to finish? I don't want to spend an extra 100 bucks just to get another set of tires, so I might just do that since they're covering charges.
