5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
If i get it, it would be in Mid feburary of '08.. I am 17yrs of age, and my dad is purchasing it for me.. and i plan on having the car for a decent amount of time..
The question is.. Is it worth it, ive heard very many complaints of stuff thats gone wrong, and how annoying some of the noises are??... and the flare of course.. Is it worth it?
or do you think they would have a majority of these things fixed by feb of 08?
No to the fixes, I say that because one car may have a bug and another may not. I hear stuff about transmission lag but I think allot of it is driver lag. A squeek in the dash or something like that is a common thing blown way out of shape by some parinoid person.I think for the bucks you are getting a great automobile that has a good resale and good record. If you look at the history of other vehicles they have a very bad record for repairs and problems compared to Camry. I saw that no one had stepped in until now I think because they thought it was a nul question because most Toyota owners are very satisfied even if they have had a problem with a couple of issues. I have a new SE and it is about as cool as I could want I am an older comsumer but have always been a sports car person. I traded my Mercedes Slk in on this car and love it. You ask around you will always find someone who hates the car but they are not looking at the big picture. Your dealership is a key factor are they good or dont give a s--t if you are happy or not.Oh ya the SLK had many issues but I still loved the car.Who gives a crap if you feel good in the ride just try and fix the problem.
i read on here where people were talking about where toyota was saying that they did not want 2 be superior to american made cars anymore.. ? is this true? if so.. anyone have the link of where they read it at.. and why would they make this choice.

There was an article out which stated that Toyota did not want to be the best anymore. I read it a while back but I think it was about them not wanting to be as superior to American cars as they were b/c it seemed Un-American of the Toyota Co....I guess it kinda makes some sence...

When you are running a multi billion dollar corporation, i'm guessing you have plenty of money in your bank account, and you have never been in the predicament of having to spend any time crawling on the ground fixing your broken car in order to get to work the next morning. But if you've had to do this, even once - it is naturally going to affect what car you are going to buy for yourself.
So thanks to the muckity muck who made this announcement, because to me it is the same thing as a warning not to buy toyotas anymore because they have deliberately engineered the reliability right out of them. (After all, It seems to have worked for Ford all these years - another make of car i'll never buy).
What about all the people who don't have any issues? Who don't complain. I see more Camrys than most people and I can tell you that gen camrys are good cars. Just like anything manmade sometimes shit breaks. Buy your new car and enjoy it. i still love mine.
