5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Sometime last year I bought a remote starter (F50 or F55 from Code-Alarm INC) for my 2007 Camry LE. A few weeks ago I had to have my dealer reprogram my keys and after this was done my remote starter stopped working. Now I have the remote starter owners manual here and this is what the manual says about adding remote controls to my system...:
1. Make sure the system is disarmed and the ignition is off.
2. Press the brake pedal.
3. Turn vehicle ignition on.
4. Press and hold emergency override button. After 15 seconds the parking lights will flash three times. This indicates that the unit has entered remote control programming mode.
5. Release the button.
6. Press button 1 on the remote control to be programmed. The parking lights will flash once, indicating that the system has "learned" the remote control.
Now, I have no idea what the emergency override button is. How can I enter remote control programming mode on my 07 Camry and is there a chance that I could screw up my real keys doing this?
emergency override button is also called the valet button. did you have the dealer or a shop install the alarm or did you install it yourself? if you had the dealer install it, ask them where they installed the valet button

after reading the manual it looks like the emergency override button was supposed to be installed by whoever installed it. it should be connected to wire 17 and 18 on the harness. you could possibly just touch the two wires together for 15 secs as this would simulate the button being pressed, but im not 100% certain as to how the button itself is. look here, page 8......
My problem is that I just recently exported my car out of the country and can therefor not contact the place that installed my remote starter. I guess I just have to take it to a Toyota place here and show them the manual for the remote starter and hope that they can fix this issue for me. I have no idea what to look for myself to even find where this device is installed in my car..
for the override button, look for a black push button... the typical place might be anywhere, but i'd check the fusebox, under the dashboard, under the steering wheel, by the ignition, any compartments, etc.

Anyway, it sounds like whatever bypass module they used will have to be reprogrammed OR if there's a key hidden in it (did you give them a key to hide in the bypass box?) that key will need to be reprogrammed too.
Also, what happens when you try to remote start the car? Does it crank at all and just not fire up? Does nothing happen at all? Do the lights even flash?

I think Stealth is correct. I looked at having an aftermarket remote start installed in my 07 XLE. They asked me if it has a factory alarm and I said yes. They then said it must have a bypass module with a key inside it for the remote start to work. Find the bypass module with the key in it and have that key reprogramed too and the system should work properly again.
Can you email the place that installed the remote start and ask them the location of the bypass module and if there is a key in it? Just a thought.
I know it's an OLD Post but I thought I might add a Thought

Thank you very much.
Sorry about bringing up an OLD Post but Thought I'd add,
Your User Man. Should have how to reprogram your remote/factory alarm... Mine does in my Toyota Camry.
wrong none of them require a key i have a 2003 4runner and an 07 camry and i installed myself remote starters in each and all you do is buy a bypass kit from http://www.autoalarmpro.com/toyota_lexus_scion and it has instructions on how to connect it its very easy i think 5 or 6 wires as you can see it says no key required. I have had it installed on the 4runner going on three years now no problems.

Do you need the VIP alarm system or does this work just with the factory lock/unlock, trunk key phobe.
