Help with installing lighted door sills???

Hey guys...I bought my a set of those lighted doors sills of ebay. I removed the factory interior plastic molding, and found the blue wire that connects the door sensor to the dome lights.

Now here is where I run into the problem.

I spliced it, and its works fine, WHEN I ONLY RUN THE DOOR SILLS. As soon as I plug it back in and the interior dome lights come on, the door sills go off.

I am grounding the door sills to one of the factory bolts right there near the site of the blue wire.

Where am I going wrong?

Its funny because both wont work, either one or the other. And when its plugged in, the interior works.

Some quick help would make my day because Im trying to finish this tonight.

Thanks

I just messed with it some more...and if I had to make an educated guess, I say its because Im not making a loop with the correct ground.
Im unsure of which ground wire to use, there are two black wires going into the large clear/white connector, with a bunch of other wires.

With the power wire (red) going into the blue wire that goes into the door sensor, with the door sensor plugged up, when the door is open and the interior door light is on, the sill is off. But as soon as I close the door, the sill comes on, and will remain on....I guess forever. It just seems to be pulling current from that wire, and will not stop even if the key is out.

So Im definitely missing a ground. Question is.......what is the correct ground wire.

Somebody help soon...so my girl can take her car to work tomorrow!

when i tapped into my dome lightt to get power to my door sills i found that two wired at the dome light both had 12v, then when a door was opened one of the wires would lose 12v. so i tapped into those two wires. sounds to me like you just tapped into the one wire that loses 12v when the door is opened. when you need both wires to work correctly

thanks for the info...
im still unsure though....what two wires are you talking about?

When you open your door, you'll notice a little rubber swtich that detects when the door is closed and open. You can open your door, press it , and your lights will cut off.
If you take the factory plastic molding off....there is one blue wire that runs to that switch.
So I thought, with common sense, that just take the power wire of the sill, hook it to that, ground the sill, and it should be stright.
No.....for some reason it works backwards.....and changing the wires around doesn't work either.

So I have to know the correct wire, in that area, that will ground the sill, and make them work properly.

The blue wire is the trigger wire and shouldn’t be used as a source for your lighted doors sills.
(The) Instrument Panel Wire goes to the Roof Wire (Lower Part of Front Pillar LH) pin 16 and changes from brown to:
white (no Moon roof)
purple (with Moon roof),
which lights the dome light by applying a ground through the main body [(ILE) pin 21] ECU.
So connect the + 12 wire to a known [+]12 source and connect the return (- [ground] wire) to the white or purple wire after the connector or brown wire in front of the connector on pin 16.

This should correct your problem.

PS pin 7 red wire is the dome +12 v source fused at 10 A.
