2008 XM Radio Ebay

I have a '08 XLE on order and am currently a XM Radio subscriber. My question is I see these "kits" on ebay that will allow you to add XM to your current radio system. Has anyone tried one of these? I'm not all that excited about spending $500 to have my local dealer install it but want to make sure these aftermarket systemsreally do work as advertised.

i got a sirius one off eBay.. it was of course about $80. and the cheapest i could get them here was $118..

Anyway, i got the whole kit, and got it and it was in the original pack just like it would have been if i got it from there..

So i guess just make sure its in the original packet..

I'm not talking about the stand alone units, I have one of those. This is what I'm looking at.

I can't really comment on the XM kits but this Sirius kit was really simple to install, works great and was the least expensive.

Here are a few pics from the install:

This is the SoundLinQ2 kits...

Here's the center console almost completely removed...

Head unit removed...

I ran the antenna wire through the trunk under the rear seat...

Trunk...

From the rear seat I ran the wire under the plastic molding...

From here I ran the wire under the carpeting and driver seat...

I used two plastic shirt collar inserts to insert the wire behind the rubber molding that's around the back windshield...

I also hid the Sirius antenna with a VG Shark fin, you can see more pics and info here...

I installed the SoundLinQ2 and Sirius tuner on the passenger side under the airbag (there is enough room there so that it stays out of the way of the airbag and it keeps the tuner static free since it's not near the head unit)...

I mounted the two units using double side heavy duty 3M tape (keeps everything on solid and no vibrations)...

Here's everything back together...

I agree you should not have any problems...SoundLinQ2 is a great product and it works well with Toyota/Lexus head units. Let me know if you have any other questions...

Simple.

1. Buy the Terk "XM Direct for Toyota Vehicles XMDTLK" at the best price you can find -- this is usually one of the best:

http://store.xmfanstore.com/texmfortovex.html

2. That's all you need, you don't need anything more.

3. Take that to your favorite car stereo/security store, and have them install it, unless you want to do that all by yourself.

4. Have them mount the antenna to the metal shelf BELOW the plastic parcel shelf -- it'll work as well as the Toyota OEM position (on top of the plastic shelf, stuck to a chunk of metal stuck to the shelf), and nobody will know you've got anything in the car at all -- total stealth.

Worked fine for me, for a whole lot less than the OEM Toyota thing and dealer installation....

They only go up to a 2007. That should still fit a 2008 shouldn't it?

Yes. There can't possibly be a difference between the 2007 and the 2008 in this regard.

Sirius Sat instructions for 2007 Camry

EuroPlate

I have been looking all over for something lilke you posted. Thanks a lot as this willbe very helpful. I have limited experience on car installations and want to tackle this myself. Do you have any step by step instructions? Do I need to get the Sirius tuner and fit kit? My car is sat ready.

Thanks
