2008 Camry Bluetooth Compatibility Problem

I tried pairing my Sony Ericsson W800i with the in car bluetooth it worked perfectly, but when I tried pairing my Dad's Samsung SGH-T519 it would fail repeatedly. Is it a compatibility issue? any ideas?

Well thats the problem as soon as my phone recognizes the bluetooth signal from the radio I press 'select' on the device and the camry's bluetooth system says connection failed everytime...but on the phone I still get to enter to enter passcode but there is no open connection coming from the radio because the bluetooth connection has failed.

Just a thought but did you make sure that Bluetooth phone setting was set to "always on" on the Samsung before you started the pairing procedure??

Sometimes if the phone does not have Bluetooth active it screws up the pairing process

First: Is this after starting the car without connecting the Sony? The Camry system is very poor when it comes to multiple connections. It needs reset
Second: Have you properly gone through the "register device" process on the Camry prior to attempting the connection?

Just because the phone sees the bluetooth signal from the car, doesn't mean the car will recognize the phone trying to connect to it.

Try this as I also had a detection problem with a Treo 755P...turn the Bluetooth on and make the phone discoverable. Go through the Camry pairing process and when the head unit is searching for a Bluetooth device make a call from the cell phone. Making a call boosts the signal and the head unit should pick it up...
