for all you 02-03 owners....belt tensioner TSB (please read)
for us 02-03 owners,
if you notice a slight belt squeak upon startup (esp when cold), there is an issue with your belt tensioner, and it should be replaced with the updated version that toyota has released as a fix for the issue
i replaced mine today and the squeal at startup is gone....relativly easy fix, and the part ran me about 90 bucks from my dealer (employee discount )
heres the TSB

yah, i get this exact problem, thanks for the post. Happens once in a while when temps go below 0 (the screetch when starting it up). It lasts about a second, never bothered dealing with it and happened too rarely).
As for the rattles I hear from the motor who knows. It could be this or that intake manifold TSB someone in here referred to. I just hate how everything seems to screw up AFTER warranty. It's like the shit was made to fukk up on a timer.
We just purchased an 03 Camry with the V6. Is this the 2AZ–FE engine because we get the startup belt squeal also.
Thanks !
No. The 2AZ-FE is the 2.4L I-4. The V-6 you got is the 1MZ-FE (assuming you have the 3.0L version). If you have the rarer 3.3L engine (SE only, IIRC), then its the 3MZ-FE.
