Foglight + Condensation. D:

I noticed that my foglights have some water/condenstion inside. I already dried it up once, and it came up again. I don't know where its comming from, I checked the rubber sealant around where the bulb goes and its all nice and tight. Do you have any ideas? I might just throw in some anti mositure packages in the lamps.

this is common as hell....my 03 SE does the same thing after a nice wash/rain and it annoys the piss out of me....after sitting in the sun for a lil while it dries up, but if u wanna eliminate it alltogether, id reccomend drilling tiny pinholes in the bottom edge of the foglight housing in order to let the moisture leave the assembly....i had an issue like this with water in the tailights of my old acura, and drilling the pinholes eliminated the problem all together.
hope this helps.

Whoa, glad I'm not the only one with this problem. Wouldn't the holes also allow more mositure to enter when it gets wet?

*raises hand* Same issue here too. I COULD smother the edges of the fog lamp lens with silicone... but I'm too damn lazy.

^^ but then you might be able to totally see it. Like I was using plastic polish on them and you can totally see it if it gets under the edges.

^Right, thats another reason why I haven't done it. Oh wellz... maybe if I ever get around to finishing my H3 mini projector retrofit (which has been a work in progress for over a year now since I haven't touched it in forever), I'll get rid of the issue. haha.

you still haven't finished it yet?!?

just kidding, i shouldn't talk. i haven't finished mine either... though i did start my TSX retrofit! unfortunately my aiming was off for the high beams, so i had to take it apart... and in doing so, ruined the paint job on the shrouds. now its too cold to work on it...
[/thread jack]

back on topic:
i would do as CorCamrySE suggested... the extra holes help equalize the pressure/temperature differences in the foglight vs outside air. it won't let more water in if the holes are small enough and shielded.

adding silicone may help it seal better, but may also make it worse. the extra sealing will trap any moisture that gets in there, thats why its just better to add more vents.

just had another thought... are you guys using ebay fog lights? the sealant on them is not very good... i was messing around with my ebay set, and was able to take off the front lenses by hand... didn't even need an oven or a heat gun!

i went with oem foglights cause the ebay ones i bought had fitment issues. haven't had a condensation/fogging problem yet!

I'm using OEM fogs, I had the ebay fogs, though those were easier to correct the condensation problem. Too bad they turned yellow. D:

Someone would make a DIY on where to drill + size. I'm getting sick at looking at the water >_> plus everytime I wash theres a puddle on the foglight cutout.

Cool dude!
Why not just pop out the fog tabs, they're reachable if you stick your arm in and find it. Taking apart the bumper seems unnecessary.

so has anyone found a solution for this prob?

more sealant? drill holes?

I just noticed my new fogs doing the same thing today. I don't really want to drill holes, but I guess whatever works, right?

what about waiting for the moisture to dry, then applying a thing bead of sealant around the edges?

Gen6

Rain for us too all week. Maybe things will clear up this weekend so I can let the fogs dry out, then play beer pong in my back yard.
