so i got my car back. wat pump repl

under warranty (44K miles).

one thing they recommended was to have my tranny fluid replaced.

dealer says they pump the old fluid out and repl w/new fluid. It takes 15 qts of new fluid.

all that for a low 150 usd.

what do you guys think, is the tranny fluid that much to replace?

No, a lube shop will do it for $100, or you can just drop the pan and change the filter and gasket on it yourself for $45.

Most lube shops dont use Toyota ATF Type-IV. They claim to have a magical "Additive" that meets standards, but it doesn't. $150 at the dealer is a good deal. I would recommend doing it every 30k.

Maybe not every 30K, but as needed by fluid inspection. If it's discolored, change it.

$150 is very reasonable as stated above.

If you plan to keep the car a long time changing the fluid at early intervals will go a long way toward avoiding trans problems later in the cars life.
