2004 se v6 3.3l shifting

i'm a noob at this, but i have been reading the threads about the camry transmission doing some dramatic shifting and i find it very similar to my case. i have a 2004 se v6 3.3l. it has those problemactic shifting cases where it would be hisatint when shifting between 20 to 40 mph, also when you stop it does a dramatic shift and it forces your back off the seat even when you try to soften up the breaking before a stop.... very jerky everyway. does anyone have any advice for me as to how to approach the dealership?

father bought the 2004 cam se v6 3.3l brand new back in 04 and gave it to me, now it has about 55k miles on it. is there anything i can do? i was reading about the reseting the transmission by taking the negative wires off the battery to reset the car or something, would that help in addition to going to the dealership?

Take it to the dealership 5yr / 60K mile PowerTrain warranty
Do your best to explain the situation to them and be sure to go along for the road test when they try to duplicate the problem or you do the driving and show them the issue since it will be easier for you to duplicate. Sometimes they will return your can and say "unable to duplicate issue"

You could try disconnecting the negative lead on the battery for a few minutes.

If that doesn't change anything or make it appear more normal you can always have the dealer check it.

If there's a problem it should be covered under the 5 year/60,000 mile powertrain warranty. If there isn't a problem, they may charge you a diagnostic fee/check out charge for checking your car out.

Gen5

i would try resetting the ECU before you do anything else... you'd be surprised how much that can accomplish... all you have to do is disconnect the negative battery terminal for about 30 minutes, then start the car and let it run for about 10-15 minutes, so it warms up, then you can drive it... resetting the ECU will change the values stored in the computer so that they reprogram themselves to optimally suit your driving style... i actually did it with mine, and now it feels peppier and the transmission seems to shift more smoothly, so give it a try... if that doesn't work, take it to the dealership... i think there might actually be a TSB for shifting smoothness in gen 5 camry's... i don't know if it applies to the 1MZ and the 3MZ or just the 1MZ, but i had it done to mine at one point...

You don't need to disconnect the battery for 30 minutes...

There is also no need to let the car run for 10-15 minutes...

Technical Service Bulletin.

TSB's are articles that technicians use to diagnose cars. You can look up TSB's for previously documented problems/failures/etc.

NOTE :
^Version 12.2a or later Diagnostic Tester software is required to perform this procedure.

^Harsh ATM shifting may result if any Repair Procedure steps are omitted (specifically steps 2 and 4 of "Flash Reprogram ECM").
