OEM pads are probably the best choice for low noise, low dusting, and long life. They also provide for immediate bite at low temperatures. They aren't expensive either. Make sure that you reuse the shims. If the shims are already gone, get a set from the dealer.

Look on rockauto, they have several makers claiming to have OEM... that's the confusion.

TRD VVTi is telling you to get the pads from a Toyota Dealer

If you insist on using RockAuto, I have had good luck with the Raybestos Professional Grade Ceramic (they may say OE Ceramic) - good pads

I think Akebono Ceramic was the original toyota pad OEM available at tirerack.com

I have also had good luck with the Hawk HPS Street pads from tirerack.com

edit to add working rockauto.com 5% off code 809906618368 - good until Dec 17th 2007 I think

I looked at that website and the pads they have on there are really cheap which makes me think they are lousy quality.

I would suggest spending the extra money and get premium pads. They cost more but they pay for themselves because they last twice as long and the cheap ones tend to whistle/squeak/grind.

I've been using Monroe premium (abt. $60 a set in Canada) and find they work pretty well.

Best brake pads that I've used are the Akebono ProACT ceramics. No noise, low dust, and super long life if they are installed on a freshly resurfaced or new set of rotors with the proper lubrication. Hawk HPS pads are also great for drivers who tend to overheat their pads (and cause pedal pulsation due to uneven filming), but these pads require a very specific bed-in method and even then, have the potential to squeak every once in a while.

Pep Boys sells a Prostop Ceramic pad for around $40, and it's made by Satisfied. They are selling their entire stock of Prostop branded brake pads for $10/axle tomorrow during Black Friday. Worth a look.

Akebono ProACT pads tend to outperform OE pads by delivering lower dust output and improving service life without compromising noise.

Warning though, the ad says all Prostop pads in stock are $9.99/axle, but some stores claim it's a misprint. Still worth a try though.

Regardless of what pads you use, be sure to resurface or replace the rotors, lubricate the slide pins, pad abutment clips and the pad shim with a synthetic caliper grease.

FWIW, PepBoys had a sale from the morning to 11AM, and the only ones on sale where cheap generic ones, not ceramic, based on what I was told there (rightly or not) In any case, there is nothing on sale as of 1pm friday.
