thanks bro, I figured that out today afternoon when searching around. Found the instruction (with pictures) by Crutchfield posted by ebumdude, really helpful !!!
Oh, for the three bottom nobs LEDs, do they have that green covers on them also ? Or we have to replace with the blue LEDs ?
I didn't have much time today, so I had to put everything back (a little loose).

I'm like the other guy, I don't want to spend $20 bucks for just 5 LEDs. If anyone has any laying around please let me know.
Send me your address via PM i have a few left i can send you.

Ok, I was able to get to the radio motherboard and remove the 8 green caps.
I also removed the green cover from the 3 A/C knobs, the kind of green cover (plastic) that is on the OEM shifter light, but it still shows as green when I put everything back together and start the electronics.
I tried to take the 3 A/C knobs apart but it won't come out. There are a few things that keeps that knob in place with the motherboard, but also 3 soldering connections for each knob. I'm not good with soldering. Is there a way to get to the LED without messing with the solder?
The 3 A/C knobs has 3 bulbs that was covered with the green stuff, it looks like it's designed to reflect lights onto the transparent plastic, like that of the shifter. I'm not exactly sure what this is for, maybe to have a glow around the knob like that of the halo ring where the key is inserted?
At least the radio looks really nice. The blue looks much better than the aqua-green. The plastic cover itself seems to have a slight greenish for the radio and A/C knobs, but the blue LED it came with really shows up well. I wonder why Toyota covered it up with the green crap. I think the blue looks much more sharper and stylish, having a deeper tone than the aqua-green, which looks washed-out and retro-like.
Bet Toyota could have sold more Camry's by actually doing their homework on displaying better interior lighting. Because this was exactly my feeling when I bought this Toyota. Exterior looks stylish, Toyota actually admitted their styling was dull. Interior looks so-so, plastic molding doesn't seem to fit together well, lighting color is... lacking. Can you even see the door button lights or the steering wheel buttons at night well? And this was before I even got into cars. Fit-and-finish could be much much more desirable. Maybe I should have went for a Lexus.
Yep i just did that too, I didn't actually take the cover off the knobs and get into the HVAC switch. Looks the same though, with those green jackets off the bulbs???????
Back at it again.
Ok figured it out. You have to take off the rings and faces of the knobs and get to the little boards inside.
Those jackets on the bulbs outside the knobs are for the glow of the selections/position of the knobs. I guess mine will be white now.

Reason: Finished
If you want to be ready... then you'll need PLCC-2 LED's, a desoldering braid, soldering iron, tweezers, and patience
when you open the HVAC controls and get to the circuit board, 6 screws will be holding up the knobs... unscew those... this doesn't mean the knobs will come off... prongs are soldered into the board. 3 on the left knob, 6 on the middle, and 3 on the right knob... you will need to use the braid to suck up the solder to pull the knob apart
once the knob is off, the silver cylindrical shell can be pulled apart from the back... once the shell is off, the top can be pulled off...
inside, one screw holds a tiny circuit board... unscrew and pull it out. like the radio, a PLCC-2 led is covered with a green cap... take that off with a tweezer... the bottom led is green or amber (the rear defroster button is amber)with 4 soldering pads... you will need to solder new PLCC-2 led in place, but use only the bottom two soldering points if your led has only two leads... this is where it's tricky... you need to raise the new led, so the leads don't touch the top two pads
Once done, put everything back together and test everything out
There is no need to desolder anything, once you get down to the circuit board you dont need to unscrew anything or desolder just pull the silver cyndrical shell off, use tweezers to pull off the tops, and you will then see the led that has the cap.
