3rd Generation Battery being Drained? gen3.

95 Camry LE.. (this is also posted in gen 3 fourms, but since im in gen 5&6 most of the time, i know you guys better, and i know you know your shit, so i decided to post here also. to see if TRD VVTi, or some of the Master ASE guys can help)

Alright, first thing happened, when i tried to start my car there was a extremely rapid clicking.. I have experinced this before when i had a bad battery.. I got the battery replaced

4months later, I try to start the car.. Same thing happend.. I dont believe its a bad battery?

I get it brought to autozone, they test the battery, its good. He said something is draining the battery, b/c he watched it being drained while he had it hooked up.

So i was sure it was the starter or alternator

Today: I just went to autozone, after removing the Starter and Alternator, taking both to be tested.. Both PASSED

Now im lost? I have no idea what it could be? Any help would be greatly appreciated, any questions that i missed, just ask, and i will try and shed some light.

EDIT: Currently to keep my car working, i unplug the ground wire to for the battery so whatever is running the battery down does not harm it.. and i just hook up it up before i go somewhere and its fine..

Passed may or may not mean anything. Using YOUR volt meter, with the engine running at idle and the ac off, radio off, headlights off, check the voltage at the battery. It should be in the neighborhood of 14 volts. If it's in the neighborhood of 12.5 volts then you need an alternator. If your test indicates sufficient voltage then kill the engine, disconnect the positive cable from the battery and alligator clip YOUR amp meter in series between the battery and the cable. It should draw a little to keep the clock and radio memories going but that's about it. How much? I can't say without studying the specs for your year but something in the realm of 10 mA. If it is drawing, oh say, 100 mA, then something isn't working right. You start pulling fuses, one at a time, until the voltage draw drops and then you have found the circuit where the problem resides. Maybe you have a radio that isn't turning off or a defogger relay hanging closed.

when u do ur test to see if your car is draining power due to a components still on or defective.. wait a few seconds before u read the actual amp .. since some stuff have a delay before turning off..

is your battery strapped down?
do u drive this everyday and how many miles>??

i had customer that had the battery die over and over.. but since he had no tie down.. it leaked all the acid out onto the top of the battery.. linking the two post together.. slowly draining the battery

+1, for the most part.

That's the first step that you need to take. If you don't have a voltmeter, buy one.

In Mississippi? I don't think that it's much of a problem.

I forgot something. Start the car up and turn on everything you can imagine. AC on high speed, high beams, etc. Check the voltage at the battery. It should still be well above 12.

Sometimes weird things happen to components within the car but most commonly, the obvious candidate wins out. Check the ground strap from the battery as well. make certain that the battery is being charged when the engine is running.
