Gen5 Power steering at cold temperatures

Anyone here experience strange noises when turning their steering wheel at cold temperatures. It sounds like something is rubbing and there's some type of friction when I turn my steering wheels in really cold temperatures (below 45F in the morning).

This only happens in extremely cold conditions, never happens otherwise. Anyone have suggestions?

the gen 5's (specifically TMMK made 02-03 models) have a TSB for a noise in the intermediate steering shaft....ill pull up the TSB for you if u want
but ive gotten a few cars complaining of this before....usually the intermediate shaft just has to be lubricated to stop the rubbing noise
does the noise occur in the cabin? or outside in the engine bay?

^^ it sounds like it's outside, but like immediately outside like on the other side of the tachometer or dash.

Its getting cold, I'll keep my eyes open for a noise.

/threadjack: Do you guys have your shoes/feet hit the steering column above the brake pad when turning?

I'm 6'4" and I don't even have that happen -- how un-proportioned are you? =P just kidding

anyway it doesn't happen to me though just to let you know.

Crawl under dash and hit the rubber grommet contact points with some silicone spray. Then open the hood and and do it on the other side. This may make the noise go away (and it will stink up inside your car for sure too).
