lets talk tires..

i recently bought a set of rims. im kind of excited. anyways i need tires. the rims specs are 18x7.5 with a +50 offset. really hoping these fit with no problems. searched the best i could and didnt really see a problem with the size. the tire size im thinking of going with is 225/45/18 is this a good size? i need to find out what tire is going to give me the same circumference as my stock 16 inch steelies on a gen 5.5. i measured my wheel with a measure tape and i think its 25.5 inches. also what brands on the cheap side are recommended?

Try a tire calc like this.
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html I dont think it takes offsets into consideration.

You got it. 225/45/18 is the closest to stock for your rims since they are 18x7.5. If your rims were 18x8 (like mine) then I would recommend the 235-45-18.

although i noticed that a 40 offset gives me a circumference of 25.1 and a 45 ratio is like 29 i think. so wouldnt i be closer to factory circumference with a 40 ratio?
