5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
The car still drives, I drove it home and into my backyard...after awhile of driving I heard a fan noise but it sounded bad so I almost pulled over and turned off the car. I've seen pretty low prices on the internet for the front bumper, hood, and fenders, and even the headlight. Any suggestions or advice? Not sure yet about whats up in the engine area...
w203, these were all I could take for now, I cant get the hood latch loose...
Well guys what happened is that I was traveling westbound at the speed of traffic and in the left lane down ahead some guy in a taxi slows down immediately and gets into a 35-40mph moving lane. I saw him from afar and hit the brakes to no avail....slammed that bastard into the curve and I saw him on the phone through the back window...and I wish it was an animal, but we dont have that problem in Los angeles...I would have let insurance handle that
Why aren't you going through your insurance company?
It seems like it would be a very expensive repair... Yes, your rates are going to probably go up, but why pay for insurance if you aren't going to use it when you need it?
If you go to an auto body shop you are looking at several thousand dollars, just for the bumper, trunk, lights, possibly side panels, etc it will probably be close to that. Then you add in the cost of professional painting, and any kind of engine bay work, it adds up very quickly.
I don't know your circumstances, but I'd rather pay an extra 50-80% in insurance premiums per year then pay $10K for car repairs at once.
At least $2500, if your lucky. You also need new tires, Thats one of your problems.

If it's just the body panels it's possible it would be that cheap (I mean it cost $1400 just to replace and paint the door skin for my rear door!). It looks as though there is some minor frame damage around the top of the radiator near the battery. You could do a basic fix and just replace the hood and bumper, although there are many other things that are partially damaged.
BTW, whats happening with the car you hit? That alone is going to raise your insurance quite a bit.
Yea, Core support is damaged, Looks like the reinforcement is gonna be damaged, Retract my previous estimate and replace with no less than $3700. Although we cant be acurate without the bumper and hood off.

I say $6000-7000. I've had a new hood, roof, interior headliner and sunroof supports last spring and it ended up costing just over $7000. But I didn't have any bending luckily.
For you, the exterior is just the start of the problem.
