Gen6 Severe corrosion of TPMS valve stems

Has anyone checked their metal valve stems lately? My 2007 developed a small chip, about 1/16 inch, at the very top of the round valve stem. This now makes it impossible to get a reading from a tire pressure gauge since air leaks out during the application. Also adding air is difficult. Upon further examination of the other valve stems I found that they all have developed some pitting and rough edges at the top. Their metal seems to be of inferior quality, maybe too soft, porous etc. Mine always have had valve caps and I do not live at the beach where salt air could create problems. They are part of the TPMS system and replacing them seems to be the only solution. Have any of you had similar experiences?

14 months old and 16,000 miles in all types of Chicago weather and no problems. I agree; bring it in to the dealer and discuss it with them.

I have posted other threads about contaminated air supplys water in the air lines and old compressors that have not been maintained and are full of corosive materials rust and other things sucked into the system and then compressed kind of like a small refinery. You may have gotten into some of that at your local station where you fill your tires. Get them replaced at the dealership and check the air supply for water and is the pressure guage right or 7-12 pounds off.
