08 Camry fuel dripping

I don't know if it's from the cap. I have noticed several times fuel running down beneath the fuel door. Checked cap and it seems secure. Black rubber seal is intact. Cap says to tighten until one click. Went to dealer but I couldn't wait an hour and a half for a tech to check it. Anyone have similar problem?

I don't have the problem, but see fuel stains on other people's vehicles for the following reasons:

Stop filling up so fast that fuel kicks back out?

Stop spilling fuel when inserting the pump nozzle?

Stop spilling fuel when removing the pump nozzle?

Stop overfilling with fuel, which is harmful to the vehicle anyways?

Those are just some guesses...

EDIT: If it was ACTUALLY leaking, your MIL would come on due to an Evaporative system (fuel vapor recovery) leak.

I always stop filling when the pump clicks off. And I was very careful today not to spill any fuel. I didn't know you could pump fuel too fast, most pumps are pretty slow I thought. Today I was very careful and after filling drove about 25 miles and then noticed it. I was wondering if I could try to tighten the cap a little more after the click.

The fuel may be expanding and forcing its way out the cap. If you are stopping fueling when the nozzle clicks off the tank should have more then enough expansion space for the fuel. This should not happen As the car is under warranty and this is conceivable a fire issue and may effect your paint have the dealer fix it. Make an appointment.

When pumping gas-are you topping off after the hose clicks off? Hot Florida weather could make the gas in an overfilled tank expand rapidly-maybe even beyond the gas cap? But it is really bad for the evaporative cannister which now has to deal with more fumes than it is designed for-possibly affecting the emission system of the car. I had to break this habit myself.

Sure you can, but it really won't get any tighter.

Like I stated previously, if the cap was ACTUALLY leaking the MIL would illuminate indicating an evap leak...

what did you notice after 25 miles, doesn't the gas evaporate anyways?? did you was the car recently, water can get in the housing and seals and leak as you drive, leaving a water drip mark. The Gs300/350 has this issue.

On my 05 Camry I never had a problem. I always refuel the same. I never add more fuel after the pump clicks off.

What I noticed was fuel running down from the bottom of the fuel door. I had wiped it clean right after refueling today then 25 miles later I saw fuel again. It is fuel not water. The cap may not be leaking but there is fuel running out of the bottom of the fuel door.

Why bother? Dealers of domestic car brands are useless. All they want is to see your signature on a bill of sale.

Past that, they will do everything under the moon's power to keep you and your car out of their building.

Instead of investing in their own home-grown "training" programs, all of these domestic car companies should just send their service reps and techs to the same place as BMW, Mercedes and Audi sends theirs.

Then watch as the redneck treatment will disappear. I don't think that buying a $30000 car instead of a $70000 car should place the customer on the bottom shelf in service treatment.

Anyway...back to the fuel thing. A long time ago, I once saw an Audi A6 which was being fueled. The guy was holding the trigger for like a minute. And then, all of a sudden, the nozzle was literally shot out of the fuel tank hole, and fuel erupted out of the Audi like a volcano.

No, the guy wasn't fueling past the click of the pump. The pump never clicked to begin with.
