5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I am sure you get a lot of these requests, but I found forums like this are the best to get info. from.
I am looking to trade in my Dodge Ram (hence the name) for a new Camry. The gas cost is killing me and I would like something smaller for my in town commute. After renting Camry's for years from the local dealership (Toyota Rent-a-Car), I have grown to really like this car and have a new appreciation for Toyota.
In any case I was wondering if there is a site or list that somebody may have that lists the specific options and option codes (ie; sunroof option code ----)? I tried using blue book and edmunds, but they often differ and I am not sure what each code/combo is for.
Also, what is the difference on Southeast pricing and the rest of the US. I live in California so I don't think that would hinder me much.
Looking for a build sheet or something similar. This way, I can order (I assume you can order Toyota's from a fleet/internet salesperson) exactly what I want and have some knowledge about it. Toyota's website isn't that good and only lists certain option packages.
Haven't seen or heard of what you're looking for, perhaps you could just contact your local dealership and ask teh internet sales manager to send you the option codes and whatnot.
^^^ indeed. I was going thru the same thing. I couldn't find any option codes or anything either until I went to the dealer. I "think" that might be your best bet.
If you do get a Camry, congrats on the purchase. You won't be disappointed, and welcome to TN.

Toyota used to have a "build you car" feature on its web site where you could select all your options. It would also calculate the list price for the vehicle. I did that myself, and found out that you can only get certain combinations of options usually made. The dealer will tell you that they can't order a specific combination of options from the factory, but will wait for one that is close to what you want from the factory, and add the options at the dealership. Its best if you can look on line to decide which options are "must haves" and which ones are "like to have". Then go see whats available at a couple of dealerships. Make sure that you test drive the actual car you want to buy. Good luck in your search.
My uncle, who's in his 60's was a GM guy his whole life. When he 1st saw my 02 Camry & saw how comparable in size they were (he stands @ 6'2") well he was impressed.A couple of years later he decided to test drive one & fell in love with the ride not to mention the looks. The other day he calls to invite me to a Xmas party & mentioned that he purchased a used 05 xle. It's never too late to switch so get to a Toyota dealer near u,NOW!
That's what I was wondering Rapid Roy. I really liked being able to order my truck and have it have exactly what I want. The sticker even had my name on it. I know I want an SE V6 with navi and a sunroof. I don't really need want anything else. It seems as though many options can still be added later (ie; Sirius, floor mats etc).
Akira 751 also had some good info too. So I pretty much have to search out a vehicle on a lot somewhere that has the optionsI want, and maybe a few more or less correct? Does Toyota trade with other dealers?

The first step is for a dealer to search his region for you want and trade with a another dealer if possible. If not you can have it built. Bottom line its your money get what you want.
If mileage is the most important concern, i think id be looking at a prius. It isnt as smooth as a camry but almost as roomy inside.
I ought to know, i drive Camrys (i own a camry and solara V6) and at work we have a whole bunch of 4 cyl 2000 yr Camrys and some prius too.
You might get almost double the gas mileage of a Camry, in the Prius. And it has a fair amount of power too.
