hubcentric ring safety?

ive been told that wheel spacers are a big no no due to safety concerns. im wondering about hubcentric rings. are these any less safe than a wheel that fits the center bore exactly? it doesnt seem like it would be but then again i dont know...

Let me try to explain this.
1. Stock wheels/Toyota/Lexus or afermarket wheels that has the same center bore--> safest because of perfect fitment.
2. Aftermarket wheels that do not have the same center bore (usually their center bore is big so it will fit many different cars) + Hub Centric rings --> not as safe as #1 but will have less vibration because the Hub Centric rings fill-in the gap between your aftermarket wheels outer diameter and your car wheel center bore also known as inner diameter.
3. Aftermarket wheels without hub centric rings --> are more prone to vibration at certain speed.

Hubcentric rings do not hurt safety. They will actually be more safe as the studs won't be near as stressed as they would be without the rings.

Personally, I like wheels that actually fit properly without the rings.

/\ agreed. unfortunatly i got a deal on the wheels i bought that i just couldnt pass up. the rings i look at on ebay SEEM thicker than what i need. and from my research i think i need a outer diameter of 73.1 and an inner of 60.1mm.

USA

I bought a set of Momo Course wheels and tires from www.tires-n-parts.com
they came with the hub centric rings they ask what car they were going on exactly so they could get the ones whit fit. I was told that they help keep the wheel in balance and like someone said takes stress off the lugs. This was the ride and I drove it at 130mph allot.
