Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I was thinking about getting one of those GPS systems by TomTom, then I thought about getting the original stereo nav system from Toyota.
For those of you that have the original Toyota NAV system, how is it? How much is it to get the stock one? Anyone selling their old one?? It needs to fit a 2002.
i would personally get an in dash nav rather than a tom tom... screen is way bigger for one, and most allow you to play dvds. i would go for aftermarket if you go this route, oem toyota navs are some what limited compared to aftermarket. if you're concerned about ease of installation, eclipse stereos are basically plug and play. they are the same company that makes the oem stereos.

I currently have a garmin nuvi 680. I've had several nav systems in the past, and this by far is the best one. Checkout the other nuvi models if your looking for less features and price.

i'm not sure what system you have, but if you don't have
the JBL system i heard you can't upgrade to the Nav.
so if you have the bottom of the line radio your out of luck.
your going to have to go aftermarket.
any1 seen the new alpine unit, has the deck with touch screen, dvd features and a dock for the blackbird-II to enable nav they come in a package or are supposed to I think.
pretty cool I think cause you can remove the blackbird unit and use it in any car while also having it integrated in dash in one.

I got a garmin nuvi 650 - love the widescreen love the fact that its portable since I travel a lot love the unit completely. Didn't need the 660 for the extra cash, walked away with the 650 for 435 not bad if you ask me.
For you garmin users, just an FYI, there was a recall on the window mount that comes with the unit. Simply call up Garmin and say the mount unit was stuck to the window and left glue residue on the window. They should send a replacement bean bag dash mount (friction mount) for free.
I have the OEM system in my 07 XLE and am very happy with it, it has done everything I have asked it to do. Unless you find an OEM in a junk yard it will be pretty expensive. because of cost I think aftermarket will be good.
