Help Please...This Could Save A Life (Headlight Question)
I have a 2008 Camry and I've been noticing that in the dark my headlights are extremely weak. By weak I mean it doesn't seem to light up the road that far ahead of me, and it doesn't illuminate dark objects (in my case pedestrians wearing dark clothes) that good at all. In the last few weeks I've had a few close calls with pedestrians and I'm starting to get worried.
Is it commonly known that Camry's have weak headlights? I searched via google and the results were inconclusive. I have searched this forum and I saw a lot of results about light upgrades, but I would honestly appreciate help from the knowledgeable people on the board regarding lighting. Yes I am a n00b, and I'm calling on the expertise on this board, which may even save a life.
Hopefully a solution can be found that, A. isn't too expensive, or B. the dealership can do for next to nothing.
Well, There Have Been A Few Complaints By SOME People. Its Not Common, Because, My Gen 5 Is Still Using The Bulbs That Came With The Car Purchased New. On This Board, Many Have Upgraded Their Lights
I've always considered my '07 Camry's low-beam headlights to be really good. (coming from a 1998 Camry- which has horrible headlights, it was a wonderful improvement.)
If you are really concerned, I'd slow down a bit at night, and maybe try looking into some aftermarket headlights. (Just make sure that they are legal, and that they won't damage the car.)
The headlights on the Camry are actually more than decent. Perhaps your lights are aimed too low.
On the back of each headlight module there is a "nut" which is square shaped. By using a wrench, you can adjust the headlight beam for each side to be higher.
Maybe try this before going to the dealer.
A HID upgrade will help you see more, but it's not a simply plug and play operation with the upgrade kit because you will also have to perform modifications to the cut-off shield inside your projector housing.

J/K! I would consider the Camry headlights above average in brightness. I think slowing down is the best advise, as suggested above. If you can't see in front of you, you are overdriving your headlights. You can always take it back to the dealer and have them check it out.

I am not sure if all Camry's do but my 08 has halogen lights and they are bright. I live in the country no street lights and I have no problems at all. I don't know if you wear glasses or not or if you have had your eyes checked but something to think about. Or have you been taking Viagra it can screw your eyes up
