Gen6 My dealership's service department is confuising me

The sticker on my car says I need an oil change at 22,200 mi I am now at 22,600 mi and the service light flashes when I start the car. So I called to set up an appointment and they tell me the car doesn't need an oil change til 23,000 mi. So I am like WTF is going on, is the service guy right or the car, I tend to think it needs one now since the service light came on.

if the light is flashing then go ahead and change the oil. wont hurt anything by doing so. plus if you go by 23,000 you're only 400 miles early. get it done.

when did you last change your oil?
the manual says every 5000 miles, i do it every 3000.
only you know when the next oil change is needed.
go ahead and do it now and start keeping track yourself, nobody will know but you when the next change is.

I gte mine done every time the service light comes on, but I do a lot of miles, so thats every 3 or 4 months at best. A few hundred miles won't hurt it.

Service light will blink at 4500 miles since last reset, then stay solid beyond the 5000 mile mark.

You're right in any case, you're the cash paying customer. If you want the oil changed just tell them "I want the oil changed." If your service advisor has a problem with that be sure to let the Director of the Service Department and the Customer Relations Director know you would like your oil changed, but the person you spoke to doesn't want to do it for you. I promise you they will flip their lids and oilz will be changed.

Besides, your advisor sounds like a nit-picky, OCD case. A few hundred miles either side of 23,000 miles isn't going to spontaneously implode the Universe.
