2003 camry air filter ???

I got a 2003 camry Se V6, i recently just installed a trd drop in air filter. I believe i ran in to a problem. i can't seem to place the filter cover box to cover the hold filter. i can still see the red rubber from the air filter.

I would like to know if it is normal?

I just went out and looked at mine. It looks nearly identical to yours on both ends. I also know that mine is sealing perfectly. As long as it's seated properly in the base you are just fine.

my 02 sat the same,even with the OEM filter

I had an air filter placed incorrectly on my 2000 Camry. The gasket was pinched and didn't seal on a 1 cm section. When I took the filter cover off, the portion with the hose going to the throttle body, I could clearly see a small dust trail from where the pinched portion of the seal was located. I had it like that for about 3000 miles or so.

I doubt it caused much long term damage but since the car was totaled a few months later, I'll never find out either.

Check up on it in a few thousand miles for dirt or dust getting past.

For now, you can double check everything is seated properly. If it is, it should not be a problem.

i believe the drop in in my SE has teh same appearance
i'd go verify with pics if it wasnt freezing raining outside as we speak

I've got an OEM filter, and it looks the same. Where you have red, I have white. You're good.
