Gen5 Interior trunk light help again

HEy guys its been awhile since i've really been on the forums. Anyways, I come to you guys again since I still can't figure out why my interior trunk light doesn't work I've checked fuses back and forth, i've tried checking cut wires anywhere that was visible and nothing. I've put my DMM to it and no voltage reading at all. In all honesty its been driving me crazy since the body shop who had messed with the electrical system when they had worked on my car over a year ago. Any help would be nice and since finals are done with I can actually work on my car.

if your fuses are ok and you still do not get a reading... my only suggestion is, since you have time, follow the line to see if it was cut anywhere... I was going to ask if you checked the bulb... but you get no reading

On my Gen 6, the trigger is in the latch mechanism. I don't know if Gen 5 is similar, I think Gen 4 had a push button near the loop that the trunk lid latches on to. You might want to check there.

from looking @ the online schems/manual 02EWD.

on page 321 looks like ECU pin B provides power to the trunk light through wire point D and the 7.5 amp fuse.

on page 324 you can clearly see the trunk light getting power through a diode and being grounded by the switch.

two things: if you are not getting power to the light bulb then the fuse is blown, if you are getting power but the light does not work then the switch is bad or a broken cable somewhere.

good luck.
