Cool Finally Warm feet!

I finally took the dash apart to fix the air distribution servo...what a mess! The actual cause of the problem was that the lever which controls the floor vent door, is a compound lever and the two levers had separated. The way the air distribution works, there are 3 separate controls, one for the defrost, one for the dash vents, and one for the floor, and each has a pin that fits into the servo's little maze wheel. Finding the problem, including disassembly of the dash only took about 3 hours. Trying to get the servo wheel repositioned onto all 3 pins so that it was functional, took another 3. Time well spent if you live in a cold climate! So with that issue down, there is only the catalytic converter code, and the belt adjuster to deal with, but that is another post.

Perhaps I can help

Can anyone tell me where such a blockage might occur and how I can get my little hand up into wherever that may be?
I just fixed mine. After reading this thread it took me about 2 minutes, maybe 3. You will have to bend, in ways we were not intended to, and get your head under the dash by the gas pedal. Look up and you will see the servo motor, reach over and activate the control knob and you will see it move a little white plastic arm attached to the motor, this arm will move down towards another little white plastic arm, the top arm should be connected to the bottom arm by slipping the pin on the top arm into the slot on the bottom arm. You will have to spread them a little to accomplish this (I used a flat bladed screwdriver).

Angry Still warm but...

My celebration was a little premature apparently, now the control is stuck between floor, floor/defrost and defrost.

Some of us can't bend that way any longer!
