5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I recently had frontend work done on my Gen 5 Camry. The other day someone noticed that my right headlight's side bulb will not illuminate when the headlights are on; however, it still blinks for the turn signal. This seems like a minor wiring issue and I'm wondering if I can fix this myself, to save a few hours of wait time at the mechanic. If it's a matter of switching plugs or something, could someone give me some tips?

First, is it a dual element bulb? If it is, have you changed/checked it. Sounds like it might be an open filament.

I bought new bulbs but am having the same problem--the blinker mode works, but not the headlight function. So clearly it is a wiring issue, and not a bad bulb. Now can someone knowledgeable with wiring help me out?
There are 3 wires going to the socket. A White-Black(Ground), Solid Green(This is the running lamp +), and a Green-Black(Turn signal +) Make sure there is voltage at the Solid green with the running lamps on.

Ooh, you got it--The solid green wire had fallen out of the socket. I redid all three and fixed up the mechanic's shoddy electrical tape job, and now all is well. Thanks a lot!
