I would NOT want to run my 07 out of gas for any reason.

Doesn't that mess it up....?

Oh...wait..maybe I am thinking about the Camry Hybrid.
That I am pretty sure you are not suppose to run out of gas...

you won't damage anything if you run of out gas

some security we used to add to hondas was a fuel cut-off switch. basically if a theif steals your car - in order to start it up, they'd have to find the location of the cut-off switch or they wouldn't be able to start the car. the cut-off was basically turning the fuel pump on/off and, as i stated earlier, is an added layer of security (in addition to the multiple other layers). there was no damage caused to the motor by doing this.

The only damage would be to the fuel pump. If you run it empty a few times it could burn up the pump. Most cars as far as I know use the fuel for cooling the pump down. Plus when you run the tank real slow it tends to pick up more garbage that sits on the bottom of your tank.

garbage in the bottom of your tank? unless you're filling it with swamp water, i wouldn't worry about that. i've taken off numerous gas tanks and i've yet to see one with "garbage" in it unless it's been rusted through.

besides.. what do you think your fuel filter is for and why is it part of recommended maintenance to have it replaced every so often?

Even if there is garbage the fuel filter will catch it.

I used to run my car on E all the time untill about a week ago when my car died on the freeway, i got it to start again and stopped right before the fuel pump. I won't be running my car on empty for so long anymore...

I believe you are right, some people say this is true and other people say the fuel pump has built in protection switch or some sh^t, but the point is, why find out? (Have you priced the cost a new fuel pump + a tow lately?) I usually dont let mine get below a quarter tank. Just makes me feel better. Maybe im a ninny but every woman i know seems to love to see how far they can run the car on "E". Maybe if they'd ever dropped a fuel tank to change the pump, they'd fill up sooner. (BTW on most camrys you DO NOT have to drop the tank to get to the fuel pump, you remove the rear seat and access it from up top).
