Canada EMPTY gas tank!

Hello Toyota friends

Just wondering, if the gas indicator needle is exactly on the empty line, how many more Kilometers/how many more minutes can one drive before running out of gas!

It may sound like a silly question but I don't have a gas container so I can't test it myself!

thanks a million!

Try this sometime: when your gas guage reads "exactly on the empty line" fill up your tank, subtract the amount you put in the tank, from the capacity in the owners man. multiply the difference by average gas mileage....tada...empty driving range......

njerald,

Did I get this right???

njerald,

Did I get this right???

Right on!!!

My Camry has 2.8-3.0 gallons left when at Empty.

I have driven 35 miles below Empty and only had 1.55 gallons left in the tank.

why not run it until it's out of fuel? You can carry gas in the truck. I don't think the math method is accurate since you don't know exactly how many gallons you can fill up.

I once ran my SE V6 past the last line on the indicator. When I filled, up it ate 59 liters so I had like 2 gallons it means.

that formula would make sense but when we fill up we dont only fill up the tank but we also fill up the neck of the tank. I believe the tank is a 15.5 gallon, and I've very often put that or more into my car. so im not sure on your math but i guess if youve experimented, your answer is better than mine

Better read your Owners manual again on that capacity!

I've driven past E before, even though it can easily be done I prefer not to, especially if I realize that I don't have time before school/work one day, or if some emergency comes up.

ive gone down all the way to only half a gallon left in the tank on my round trip to baltimore from ny. it was quite scary. i was driving in heavy highway traffic(BQE east on a sunday for you locals) for a loooong time with the low fuel light on. my gf almost killed me when she realized that i did that lol

normally when the light comes on, you have 3.5 gallons left in the tank. this is proven when you fill up once the light comes on, it will top off at 15 gallons, and considering we have an 18.5 gallon tank, you get 3.5 gallons left

when i had my integra, when the stupid light went on i usually had about 100-125 kms left which is about 15 litres - i knew that car inside and out. but since the 5g camry is new to me i wouldn't trust myself quite yet. lol.
