According to Carpoint.com.au, Toyota spokesman Mike Breen said the SINGLE FAILURE involved a piston and a conrod separating. Doesn't say anything about a recall. Just says they are stopping sales for now.
Like i said in my first post (rumor) I do not think we will hear the whole story until the fat lady sings. But some people are saying the supercharger caused the engine to blow up. The increase of power caused by superchargers puts allot of stress on everything. Watch NHRA racing sometime when a supercharger comes apart or the engine comes apart it can be explosive.
My Mercedes SLK 230 Kompressor which is German for supercharged. Has never had a problem, the 4 banger will haul ass when the supercharger kicks in.You can get it up on the pipe and then nail the gas and it will put you back in the seat.Funny I cut and pasted this from the .au site and everything is backwards while I am typing I guess it is because they are on the other side of the world.Lets see when it posts.
