Undocumented Change for 08?

One of the things I noticed with my 07 was the LOUD, tinny sound of the roof when it rained. I mean OMGWTFXBOXHUGE loud like the roof was nothing more than a thing piece of sheetmetal and the headliner with no type of sound dampening at all. I've been in many cars and never has rain hitting the roof been so loud and noticeable. But, I live in California so it wasn't too much of an issue since it's rarely raining when I need to be on the road.

Last night on the way home from work it starts raining and I notice immediately that hey the sound of the rain hitting the windshield is louder than the roof! I dunno if the loud tinny roof sound was the norm for the 07's or I had an oddity, but my 08 is worlds better with regards to noise reduction from the roof.

That's because the Hybrid has a different windshield which specifically dampens noise. None of the other Camrys do.

It says so here:

ditto -- my car is silent and eerie in the rain. My gen 3 though was loud everywhere.

What does that have to do with rain noise from it hitting the roof?
