Gen5 Steering Wheel sounds like its gonna fall apart

So as I'm driving I noticed a vibrating and rattling noise of originating from the steering wheel. This usually occures when I am going over any slight bump or a rough road. The steering wheel also allows a lot of freeplay when turning to 11 or 1 without the car reacting, it just feel way too loose. This occurs at all speeds, I hold on the wheel loosely and riide over a rough surface the wheel serious feels like its falling apart.

Any suggestions?

Perhaps the Rack and pinion assembly is very loose. Or the typical intermidiate shaft problem.

My 2004 SE (previous car) did that - they had to replace the entie rack and pinion assembly.

Sounds like you need to use your Toyota Platinum Extended warranty.

Thanks, yea I took it in to get look at and it seems like its the rack and pinion. The tie rods seem to be in good shape. I guess this is from all this potholes I couldn't avoid, thats one of the drawback of living in New York. Thanks for the help.
