I have been looking for some brighter low beams for my '07 LE. I am not quite ready for an HID retrofit. I don't want garbage bulbs that will melt my harness or have crappy output. I came across these lights. They are made by OSRAM(Europe) not OSRAM Sylvania(America). They are H11 55W bulbs. Has anybody tried these out?

Sorry, I just went straight to an HID kit. On my old car I replaced the stock bulbs with Sylvania's and they made a nice difference, but nothing comes close to beating the HIDs. Good luck!

+1 I currently have 6000k HID kit. I'm waiting for a set of retrofit headlights from JSM1284. I can hardly wait!!!
This is how I see it:
Stock bulbs --> 1x
HID kit --> 3x
HID retrofit --> 10x
Don't believe me? Do a search on a members Whitechocolate,LNGasman.

I want to do a retrofit eventually. I've done a lot of reading on the forums about HID. I know taking the cheap route to HID equals bulbs that don't last, ballasts that burn out, other drivers blinded, and a melted harness($1300 ouch!) I want to do it right the first time. I need to hold off on the $400+ for the retrofit. I already bought wheels/tires, spoiler, and fogs. I am just looking at some thing to tide me over. For less than $100 I can replace the high and low beams.

even with a retro, ur harness can still burn out. Make sure you get a harness kit. That is the safest bet for your electrical system if you are gonna run HIDs

25% done with LED on your tail light! I can't wait........

I switched my low beams to 7000K 100W Nokya's (I believe thats the name), and they looked good on the car, however they did a horrible job of lighting up the road. So I just decided to go straight to 5000K HID's.
But if you get HID's then I won't be the only one in Concord with an HID-equipped Camry

The bulbs that I am looking at are H11 55w. They are supposed to be more efficient at the same wattage as stock. I'm not expecting whiter light or near HID output. I just want something that puts more light down the street. I will pick up the bulbs and let everyone know how they are. I am curious to see the output of the new bulbs compared to stock and HID. Maybe we could meet up in town someplace and compare.

That would be great, just be careful not to get 7000K or even higher colored bulbs. Since I do a lot of night driving I wanted some bright lights, which is why I went with HID's, and I didn't want to mess around with retrofitting.
But ya, we can definitely meet up sometime and compare. Are you picking the bulbs up at a store or buying them online?

This makes a lot of sense to me... I applaud your rational thought on this. Altho' I have HIDs on mine (6000K), I'd agree with you to give this route a shot first. However, my HID install, parts and labor cost a grand total of $326 (parts $151 + $175 labor). That ain't bad at all for the significant increase in lighting output the HIDs put out over the stock halogens. Once you have experienced HIDs in a car, you'll never be satisfied with halogens ever...

They claim to be much brighter than standard halogens. From the info I've been able to find they are indeed brighter. I should know if the claims are true in the next week or two.

I assume that's not a retro (which is a mistake based on my research). I stand by my position that even at $300, you aren't getting a good deal in terms of increased performance of your lighting system over what came with the car. It isn't like you can't see with the OEM projectors and bulbs. They are actually one of the better units out there. Also keep in mind that it isn't always HID>Halogen. Consumer reports did some testing on OEM headlights and one of the Toyota OEM Halogen systems (Sienna, IIRC) beat 95% of the OEM HID systems in what matters (lighting up the road in front of you).
