Gen6 Weird Problem after New Oil Change? Help!

Hey I have an 07 Camry LE with about 17,300 miles on it. Today I hit my 5,000 mile marker and decided to change the oil and filter. I drained everything out and poured in brand new Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil (5W-20) and also changed the oil filer with a Mobil 1 brand. I primed the oil filter and poured in new oil to the correct amount and warmed it up to double check the level of oil. Everything is normal.

It was all normal when I warmed it up again and started reversing out of my garage. I noticed a little harsh vibration and roughness as I was backing out slowly. Then I switched in in Drive and began accelerating slowly. Still have that rough feeling.

The roughness, vibration can be felt between the 1800-1950 RPM range. I drove it around the city and at that specific range the problem occurs. The vibration and mild-rough vibration can be felt on the floor of the car and everything else in the car rattles a little bit more than ordinary.

What could have happen? Maybe the car needs to get use to the new synthetic oil? Please help me. Thanks!

I can't see how it would be related to your oil and filter change. There is no adjustment to synthetic oil.

Take it to the dealer and have them look at it.

hahah i had this same problem and the answer is very funny acutally. even tho the oil that the dealership uses in the cars is the same viscosity as the one you are using in synthetic, the conventional mineral oil that they use needs to be thicker to achieve the same viscosity (also know as resistance to flow). because of this, the synthetic is not as thick a oil as the dino oil they use so the motor makes more noise. I noticed this becuase when i first got my car it was very quiet when accelerating below 2.5k rpm, but when i put in mobil 1 i started noticing more valve train noise and also wat seems to be more vibration, which is acutally just more valvetrain noise. When i got my car service at 5k, they changed the oil back to the crap they use and my car became very quiet again. After i got the car home, i immediately changed it back to mobil 1 and the car was noisy again. I guess i prefer the quieter car but i know i'm getting more protection with the mobil 1 syn.

Hey thanks for the answer. I was worried yesterday driving the car around, but now I know its normal. The car has been using Mobil 1 Synthetic since 3,000 miles, so its kind of weird how the vibration/roughness started at 17,x00. Yeah i definitely noticed more of the valve train noises (clicking/ticking) at lower rpms. Again, thanks for your help and I wish everyone a happy holidays!

This may sound odd but maybe it is just that your car doesn't "like" that brand and/or weight of oil. I have noticed this on several of my cars and trucks over the years, you can tell small differences in the car you drive every day for years, after all. Alot of them seemed to run just a little better on one brand than another. alot of people here know exactly what i am talking about - my truck seems to like penzoil, as did most of my other cars, castrol not so much, valvoline none of them seemed to like.
If that sounds weird so be it, alot of the time i just mix brands of oil but usually not oils of different weights just to get clean oil in there (which is more important than what brand you use). Sometimes i will mix in one qt of mobil 1 with 4 of dino (V6) and you can tell the engine is benefitting from it as it runs just a little bit smoother.

I think its safe to say you wont be using this brand or weight again anytime soon - since you live here maybe you should try 5-30 or even 15-40 if you want to use Mobil 1.
