5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Curious: Who DID NOT have to get the TSB for hesitation??
This will probably apply mostly to 2007 Camry owners. I'm curious to know how many people on here felt they "HAD" to get the TSB done for the hesitation issue. I know some people really had to get it but I think most people were either too impatient in adjusting to the drive-by-wire or (no disrespect intended) were too stupid to figure the system out.
When I first got my 07 Camry I had the hesitation problem. But I remember several knowledgeable people who had this system in either the Camry or other cars state that DBW learns your driving habits and eventually adapts to that. In addition to that it wasn't supposed to be hard to figure out avoiding whatever made your car hesitate. So, with that in mind I starting avoid doing whatever made my car hesitate in over a short period of time my car adapted to me. Almost a year and a half later my car has virtually NO hesitation. I can count how many times it happens in a year on one hand.
So what about the rest of you guys???

this issue is only for I4 engines. I have a aug 2007 model and it has no problems. I test drove a car with an earlier build date and it has the issue. You don't need to make excuses for toyota because there is a problem. Having to wait 2 seconds for the engine to respond to me hitting the gas pedal is not acceptable.

Not to mention that when it did catch up, then you removed your foot from the pedal, it was still accelerating like a rabbit with a fox hot on its tail for two seconds more.

i haven't had the tsb installed on my i4 yet. i do notice the hesitation but haven't had the time to leave my camry at the dealership. they are asking me to leave it for a day to have it looked at and i just don't have the time to do so. I will whenever time frees up but as for right now, doesn't look like it's hindering me much.

I don't need to make excuses for anyone because I'm not getting paid by anyone to do so. My point is I think too many people jumped the gun with this issue but as I also state, some people really did have a valid issue and needed to get the TSB done.
I'm new to the forum. I've read about the TSB for the 2007 I4s. I have a 2008 SE I4 with stick shift. How do I determine my build date, and would that help determine the version of firmware I have in my ECM? (read... should there be any reason that I'd need the software flash?)
Thanks,

Thanks,
The build date is located in the drivers door pillar. The VIN tells you weather it is KY or Japan built.
4T1BE46K*7U0***** = KY line 1
4T1BE46K*7U5***** = KY line 2
JT1BE46K*730***** = Japan
Get it checked only if you have the hesitation/pause then the surge/uncontrolled acceleration issues like I had. The worst problem was, you didn't know when it would do "it's thing".

Only for I4's ???!??!?!?!?!?!?! WTF???? Ummm ... no! It's actually only for the V6 6-Speed Tranny (U660E) which has the Flaring issue!
The 2AZ-FE (I4) paired with the U250E Trans has had no TSBs to date to my knowledge!

You are partly correct, check out TSB TC010-06. I had it done to mine, which stopped the harsh down shift or "Butt Bumps". There isn't a flare problem or any other problems I know of with the U250E Trans. BTW the application of TC010-06 to my car, which was built AFTER the TSB vin's cutoff, corrected my cars problem. I was verrrrrrrry pleased with my dealer!!!!......

Could you tell me little more about TC020-06? I never heard about this TSB before.
Thanks
