5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Well my previous car I guess isn't the best comparison, but its safe to say I hated that car, it was a 2002, dodge stratus r/t. I will never buy another Dodge again. But point is, every single thing I hated about the Dodge, I LOVE in my Camry.
Top 10 list:
1. The center colum storage space is great; Front cd storage with lighter adapter with aux in jack, TWO! cup holders that transitions to another storage area with a flip down cover, that is padded so it doesn't click. Additional storage area for a cell phone with another power adapter. Another storage area under the arm, with a coin tray and padded, carpeted bottom.
2. The head lights with their projectors, puts down an even beam of light completely right to left no bright spots or areas darker. The high beams feels like your driving a gigantic spot light.
3. The stereo system is great, the bass the aux in jack and the ability to mp3's are all nice. it is a very good sounding system in my opinion for being factory.
4. The glove/storage box you can close it with one finger ( no slamming) and it has a controlled descent, some sort of shocks so no rapid falling with a slam when you open it and let it go. The fact the glove/storage compartment is lockable.
5. Powered recline on the driver seat.
6. Eye glass storage on the top, I can't believe how handy this is, no more losing my sun glasses!
7. Lots of leg Room in the back seat and floor area.
8. The automatic lights that transition from daytime running lights / night time.
9. Controls for the radio on the steering wheel
10. Key fob that has the control/buttons integrated into the key itself, that is genius!
Also the ease of putting in an after market stereo which was the Pioneer avic d3 with steering wheel controls was extremely easy. There was a ton of open area within the console itself to store the xm radio/ bluetooth modules out of the way.
So yeah it's safe to say toyota has a new fan, it is no wonder the toyta camry is the best selling car and has won awards. This is the nicest car I have ever owned, it was several thousand cheaper then the Dodge stratus to boot.
it is a Silver, 2007 Camry LE, I bought it in Feb and joined this forum a few weeks ago looking for information to install a factory compatible XM receiver. I have found a lot of good information and held back on some cool stuff like hid upgrades.

Also the Pac steering wheel adapter/ avic-d3
Did you get the I4 or V6, AT or MT?
The quiet ride and (now smoooooooth) performance of my I4 is more than adequate for my area, rural.
I have a portable XM installed with the antenna stuck on dash behind the inspection sticker. It only fades, at times when going NE. The best hidden location is under the rear deck plastic.
Check out the TSB's, don't let the dealer BS you.

"Kinda Hard to ID in a Parking Lot"
My next mod is going to be the heated outside mirrors with amber marker and hidden turn indicator, then on to the trunk mounted CCFL or LED lights. I am looking at trying to reduce the intensity of the OEM radio lights (too), my only objection about the car. Two to three more notches down would be great!

you can reduce the brightness by turning the small knob on the dash, the one that controls the odometer

Did that, lost the dash lighting before the radio display was set to my desired level. I live in the country, and I feel that the MFG settings are for "City Lights" and they don't help when you are deer spotting on the rural roads. I love my dear Camry, would hate a deer Camry. That would tend to make for a extreamly bad day.

cranbers I know what you mean. My wife had a 2001 Stratus R/T and I couldn't stand that car!! We had nothing but problems with it. I recently purchased a 2008 SE V6 and I love it!

hahaha... there's something wrong with your statement... you say you hate your wife's car, you buy yourself a car and you love it... haha... seems like your wife is out of the loop.
That's funny! She could care less where her car comes from. "As long as I look cute in it" is all she cares about! That's why it is easy to shop for her! LOL!
