5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I just received the bill for my car insurance, and my 6-month premium increased by over $80 due to "an increase in claims for the make and model of your vehicle."
try searching the threads to see if you find and accident threads... you'll only find a few... if you want a scapegoat cuz you can't afford the increase... just leave... blame yourself for having a lousy insurance company
I apologize for that increase. I claimed $7100 in repairs in spring of 2007 for a new roof, hood, sunroof rails and some painting. But that wasn't a collision - just natural disaster damage on my own property (snow+ice from roof of cottage slid down on the driveway).

Take it easy there buddy... I'm just trying to be humorous. BTW - I use State Farm which is one of the biggest and most popular companies in the country.
mines really low, and i have comprehensive coverage
and my mods are also covered....
i own a 4cyl, 4 door camry with abs and front/side airbags....doesnt get much cheaper to insure than that!

You're right. If you were to graph insurance rates versus how "premium" a car was, the graph would take the shape of a parabola.
On the far left upper, you will have cheap cars which cost less to repair, but are high risk because they aren't really safe (i.e. Toyota Yaris, Chevy Cobalt). So the insurance rates might be high relative to what the car actually is worth.
Towards the bottom middle, you will have Camrys, Maximas, SUVs, etc. Cars in this section are moderately expensive to fix, but they are very safe usually and parts are quite common. This is the sweet spot for insurance.
Then again to the far right upper, we go to the high end market of Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, etc. These cars are basically guaranteed to be ultra safe with the latest safety systems, 20 airbags, etc. But they cost a lot to fix and thus the insurance rates for those will be high.
BTW, my insurance policy is up for renewal this spring. I can't wait to see the increase after my generous claim a year ago.
Stay safe out there guys! Still a lot of drunks on the road during the holiday festivities!
