back in july i installed modified nokya yellow 9005 bulbs into my 9006 foglight sockets....they had been working great up until a few weeks ago when i noticed the drivers side was out....i took apart the assembly to find the bulb had melted the connector....i went to the junkyard and bought two connectors (9006) off a junked avalon and replaced it, and now 4 weeks later its at it again...im assuming that i messed up the plug when i was modifying it to fit the 9006 housing and its cauing my issue, cause the passenger side works with no issues at all....i have ordered a new set of luminecs jdm yekllow 9006 bulbs and im hoping this solves my issues
has anyone else had this issue or know what could have cause the bulb to physically burn through the connector?
any help is appreciated!
They are aftermarket bulbs. Thats the reason. They draw too much current and burn too hot.

i assumed as much jsm....
the luminecs bulbs i bought apparently burn cooler (much cooler) than the damn nokyas
plus theyre factory size
and does anyone know where i cang get more 9006 connectors? i cant find the extra one from teh avalon and i dont have time to hit up the junkyard for a while
Most GM cars use them. Or the dealer parts dept can order just the pigtails.
I actually have probably about 100 of the 9006 pigtails laying around. I used to do body work, have lots of harnesses.

yeah i work at a toyota dealer and my parts department might be able to get them for me...ill prob just end up replacing the whole pigtail and the bulbs when i mod the foglight mounts....damn road debris knocked the light assembly loose and i have to get around to fixing it...
I have had this problem many times with my fog bulbs. I haven't really tried with the luminics bulbs before though because I don't like the look of their JDM yellow bulbs. They looked more washed out compared to the Nokya's.
But anyways I replaced my stock harnesses at first with some high wattage harnesses from Pepboys. They were 3A racing. Supposedly heat resistant plastic and they have a pretty thick gauge wiring but those turned out to be crap and I went through about 2 or 3 of them just for my fogs. I then bought the Nokya high wattage harnesses and hooked them up to both sides and those have been working great for about a year now with no sign of melting. So try these out. I think I got them off ebay for about $25 a pair. Good investment. Best of luck to you with your issue.
Edit: I am using 9005 Nokya Yellows and they are holding up with those harnesses.
Why not try getting some 9005 harness/connectors?
I've been using some 9005 modified bulbs in my fogs but then again I have a aftermarket harness. No problems.
thanks alot everyone....
frank im going to order the harnesses from nokya this week
thank god someone else has had this issue and resolved it....its been pissing me off haha
i havent had a problem with my modded 9005 nokyas.. i have had them since october. prior to that i had modded 9005 luminics in there and also had no problems.. maybe its a hit or miss kinda thing?
