Nitrogen in my Gen 6

Local stealship is running a free fill up for my tires .... with another service. well i am getting my oil changed tomorrow, so i was thinking why not ....

just figured i would ask to see if anyone has ever used nitrogen in their tires before ? i am not really expecting any noticable difference, but i figured, free couldn't hurt anything ......

any thoughts if it would effect the tpms ??

are you running air right now? if they fill it, are they going to deflate it all the way and refill it with nitrogen? Nitrogen is supposed to keep your tires inflated longer, so i don't think you'll fell the benefits if all they do is a a couple psi's of Nitrogen... and tpms are pressure sensored so i don't thing the difference in matter will affectand i thought my tails were in the basement but they're not... so i think they're in the garage... need to look harder

Uh, Doesnt our air contain about 70% nitrogen in the first place. which means you already have 70% Nitrogen fill in your tires already...

Pure nitrogen is a great idea. The tire pressures will stay much more stable.

another scam. Pay for nitrogen in your tires? To state an obvious truth, tires wear from the outside in. nitrogen inside isnt going to affect that.

besides which, unless you actually watch them fill it, they could put regular air in your tires and how would you ever even know it? Not that every shop would do this. But you can be certain some of them will try to sell you compressed air at nitrogen prices.

To me the whole thing is, well, silly. I'll stick with the free kind.

^ he said its free ... dont see how someone can scam you if theyre offering a free service

Pure Nitrogen = better than Air (which is a 70% Nitrogen mix), its been proven ... however the results wont affect you on a large scale

literally, youll save a few pennies ... but it cant hurt

No harm in doing it. I wouldn't personally go out and search for someone to pump me up with nitrogen, but if you're going there anyway...why not?

This whole loss of pressure theory really isn't a big deal.

I check my tires regularly and at most I lose like 1 psi per month on all 4.

The spare has stayed even actually.

Another scam, and it's free.

Nitrogen does not leak as easily which will allow tire pressures to be more stable. That will decrease wear. It's really basic.

It may be silly to you but there is a reason that it's used in every form of motorsports.

Again, you post without any knowledge when you should just sit back and learn from those that do have the knowledge.

but free is free
if they are taking them off the car, maybe i can convince them for a free tire rotation as well .....

They don't take the wheels off of the car to install the nitrogen. You usually have to let the air out and fill with nitrogen two times per tire for an adequate exchange.

It's also nice and dry, so you don't get any moisture inside the tire. Anyone here ever work at a shop that had adequate in-line driers for their air system and drained them regularly? Me either.

I drained my Body Shop lines Everyday. I hated water squirting out of the exhaust of my grinders, ratchets, DA's, etc...
