5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
So I have started to put out some E-mail "feelers" with local dealerships on an 08 Camry. I am looking for an SE V6 with navigation, package #1 comfort package, cloth and sunroof. I have had one dealer quote me at 29,200 + TTL for a Camry with sunroof, leather, navi, VSC, Sirius, Rear Spoiler and comfort package #1. When I asked about cloth I was told Toyota does not make Camrys with navigation and cloth...
First off, is that a good deal on that vehicle? Is it true that I can't get cloth with navi?
I know about the debate of cloth vs leather and I have read the post concerning that. Cloth works better for me and my use for the vehicle.
For my SE V6 Navi, Sport Heated Leather, Moonroof, Floor Mats I payed $26,183.30 out the door.

According to Toyota.com, yeah you can't get Navi unless you have leather.
Try to ask the dealerships to see if they can allocate one for you. It just may not be too popular of a choice for cloth+leather, so not many dealerships carry it. If you request for the dealer to order it, they should be able to get one for you.

That's what I was hoping. I'd rather have a vehicle built and wait for it. I did that with my truck and got it exactly how I wanted. How long does it take to get a Camry built? I would imagine longer than the 4 weeks I waited for my truck (Dodge).

Right now it would be a 09 Camry, the last 08s are being built right now. So about 4 to 6 weeks. That is my regions time frame.
a few dealers in my area have had custom built 4cyl SE/XLEs with cloth and navs....ive also seen a SE V6 with cloth, sunroof, JBL and nav come through....they will make them, but u have to wait till toyota will build it for you....
So I contacted one of the larger Sacramento area dealerships about getting a special order vehicle. This is his reply.
Sure, I'm happy to place a special order request. Are you prepared to place a deposit, wait for a few months, and pay the full MSRP of the vehicle you order? An alternative would be to purchase a V6 Camry SE with a fabric interior and add aftermarket navigation. Would you prefer that approach?
I don't think I will buy from them.
One of the reasons I decided on a Camry was because I don't like Honda's all or nothing style of purchasing.

Good decision. The reason (one of them), I bought from Fitzgerald (www.fitzmall.com) is that they honored the price ($600 over invoice) on a car that was incoming and allowed me to make changes to the options. About 5 weeks later, I took delivery of exactly what I wanted at a great price. 99% of my dealings were done via email and phone with one stop to sign order papers and get my trade appraised, and the other to take delivery of my car.
One of their representatives is a contributing active member of this forum (He has posted in this thread , and my salesperson is a member but doesn't post much. I know they are 3k miles from you (I only had to drive an hour) but at the least they will be honest with you about your options and are a trusted ally in your car search.

finding the correct dealership is key...
also bear in mind that toyota sells cars territorially, meaning some types of vehicles (ie XLE V6 camrys with leather/nav no heated seats avalible in florida, etc) are sold in certain areas according to climates and dealer demand....some dealerships like mine might pre build cars such as an SE V6 with cloth and nav and keep it in stock....you just have to look around and see if you find what you want if you dont wanna order the car from toyota
